Suggestions For Saving Money While Planning A Wedding Reception

Saving money while planning a wedding reception is something a lot of brides would like to do. The reception generally follows on from the ceremony and is often considered to be the high point of the day. Not surprisingly a bride wants their day to be perfect and one way to do this is to get the reception you want within your budget.

There are many ways money can be saved when planning an event such as a wedding. You want to give yourself as many options as possible so planning ahead is important. Make a list of everything you would like to include on the day and decide what is essential, what would be nice to have, and what you would be happy to do without.

The cost of the venue is often one of the most expensive parts of the day. Getting wed during the week as opposed to the weekend can make venue costs cheaper. Hiring a smaller room is another way to make a saving. Of course if you know someone who has enough space for a marquee then this could be a much cheaper option.

Making things yourself rather than buying them is another way you can make savings. Things like favors and place cards are relatively easy to make using supplies you can find in any craft store. If creativity is not your strong point ask a creative friend to help you, or ask them to make the items for you.

When it comes to the cake there are several ways savings can be made. Could you ask a group of people to club together and buy you the cake as their wedding gift. Do you have a friend who could make a cake for you, cupcakes are still very popular for weddings and easy enough to make at home.

Find a venue that can only hold a limited number of people and this will automatically mean you have to limit your guest list. It may mean a few people will be disappointed but it’s your day and if you’re holding the purse strings it’s up to you to invite who you want. Don’t feel pressured into inviting more people if you know this is going to wipe out the cost savings you have already made.

Saving money when planning a wedding reception is a skill, and not one everybody has. People tend to get carried away and forget all about their budgets, which doesn’t help when trying to make savings. Ask yourself how important the reception is to you, if it isn’t that important, then why are you having it?
